Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 16, 2026

PostthisDraft is a Chrome extension that rewrites a rough draft into a polished LinkedIn post, and lets you collect links, videos, and screenshots into a project-scoped tray while you write. This policy explains exactly what the extension collects, why, and how long it's kept. If anything here is unclear, contact bhargavarchit90@gmail.com — that's the fastest way to reach us.

What we collect

1. The text you submit for rewriting, and the result

When you click Improve Post and choose a style, the draft text in the composer is sent to our backend and passed to a third-party AI provider (see "Third-party processing" below) to generate the rewrite. Both the input you submitted and the output you received are stored in our database, along with:

• A random device ID (see below)
• The style you chose (e.g. "Founder Story")
• Whether you clicked Copy or Replace on the result
• The request's IP address and page origin

We do not collect this unless you actively trigger a rewrite — nothing is read from the composer or sent anywhere until you click the button.

2. Device ID

On first use, the extension generates a random UUID and stores it via chrome.storage.sync. It isn't tied to your name, email, or LinkedIn account — its only job is enforcing the monthly free-tier limit and distinguishing one installation from another for abuse prevention. If you're signed into Chrome sync, this ID may sync across your own devices; it identifies the installation, not you personally.

3. IP address and page origin

Every rewrite request is logged with the requesting IP address and origin. This is used solely for rate-limiting and abuse detection (e.g. catching a single source hammering the free tier) — it is never used for tracking, profiling, or advertising.

4. Post Assets tray (links, screenshots, projects)

Links you paste, links/images you save via the right-click menu, and screenshots you capture stay entirely on your device, in chrome.storage.local. This data is never transmitted to our backend or anywhere else — it exists only to populate the Assets panel inside the LinkedIn composer, and you can delete any item, or clear a whole project, at any time from the extension popup.

5. Favicon lookups

The Assets panel shows a small site icon next to saved links, retrieved through Chrome's own built-in favicon API. This is a request Chrome itself services — PostthisDraft doesn't send saved links to a third-party icon service.

Third-party processing

Draft text you submit for rewriting is passed to a third-party AI provider solely to generate the rewritten post. We currently use Anthropic (Claude), but we may switch or add providers (e.g. Groq) as our needs change — whichever provider is in use acts strictly as our processor for generating your rewrite, under their own data-handling terms (see Anthropic's privacy policy as our current provider's policy). We do not share your drafts with any other third party, and we do not sell data to anyone, ever.

How long we keep it

• Rewrite events (input, output, device ID, IP, origin, copy status) are retained to enforce the monthly usage limit and investigate abuse. Contact us if you'd like your history deleted — see below.
• Post Assets tray data lives only in your browser's local storage. Uninstalling the extension, or clearing an item/project yourself, removes it immediately. We never see it.

Your choices

• Delete a device's history: email us your device ID's associated usage concerns at bhargavarchit90@gmail.com and we'll delete the matching records.
• Clear local data: remove items or whole projects directly in the extension popup, or uninstall the extension to wipe all chrome.storage.local data instantly.
• Opt out entirely: simply don't click Improve Post — every other feature (Assets tray, screenshot capture) works without ever contacting our backend.

Security

Data in transit to our backend is sent over HTTPS. Our database is hosted with a managed Postgres provider and is not publicly accessible.

Children's privacy

PostthisDraft is intended for professional use on LinkedIn and is not directed at, or knowingly used to collect data from, children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above. Material changes affecting how your data is used will be called out clearly at the top of this document.
